L’histoire se passe en 1917, en plein mois de mai, le ciel est bleu, il n’y a pas de vent, c’est un jour id\u00e9al pour un voyage en mer.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

La plupart des passagers du bateau \u00e0 vapeur \u00ab\u00a0le Medjerda\u00a0\u00bb qui vient de quitter Tortosa pour rallier la France, sont des soldats fran\u00e7ais. <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Ils sont tous d’excellente humeur car\u00a0c’est leur voyage de retour vers la terre natale, la famille, les amis. Sur le pont ce ne sont que rires et chansons… mais soudain, tout bascule dans l’horreur. <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

A l’embouchure de l’Ebre une torpille allemande les touche de plein fouet et envoie le navire par le fond o\u00f9 il repose d\u00e9sormais \u00e0 40\u00ba44.185N-1\u00ba11.094E. <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Le sous-marin allemand\u00a0 vient d’accomplir son oeuvre de guerre. <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

La plupart des passagers se noient.\u00a0<\/span><\/b>Cependant, 14 personnes r\u00e9ussissent \u00e0 se hisser dans un canot de sauvetage. <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Malheureusement la mer grossit, le vent se d\u00e9cha\u00eene et leur embarcation de fortune se disloque. Epuis\u00e9s, d\u00e9sesp\u00e9r\u00e9s ils d\u00e9rivent jusqu’\u00e0 la plage de Cap Roig o\u00f9 un groupe de courageux p\u00eacheurs de l’Ampolla organise leur sauvetage. 14 heures apr\u00e8s le naufrage, ils sont recueillis, transis, mais sains et saufs.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0En remerciement, le gouvernement fran\u00e7ais de l’\u00e9poque offre une statue comm\u00e9morative que l’on peut admirer, face au port, dans le petit jardin o\u00f9 jouent les enfants. <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Ce soldat de bronze,\u00a0rappelle\u00a0une trag\u00e9die mais aussi la merveilleuse solidarit\u00e9 et le courage des marins-p\u00eacheurs. <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

La l\u00e9gende dit que toute personne qui passe \u00e0 l’Ampolla sera prot\u00e9g\u00e9e par l’esprit qui l’a amen\u00e9 ici!!!<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n
